About us

The opportunities of positioning political or social issues in the media, in the cultural area or in the public eye have decreased notably in the past years, as the race to obtain much sought after project financing has become harder. Commercial galleries or agencies tend to hang on to the ‘well-established’ and frighten away from too critical and therewith supposedly unsaleable positions. This led us, a group of photographers and those with a keen interest in photography, to set up the non-profit organisation ‘Society for Humanistic Photography’ in January 2006. Our initiative intents to support photographic works dealing with social and political - in a wider sense humanistic - subjects as well as contributes to make them known by as wide an audience as possible.

Over 100,000 people have visited our exhibitions to date. We rent these works out for show on a national and international scale or conduct exhibitions ourselves in cooperation with local institutions. Furthermore we offer training courses for photographers on such topics as fundraising; project management and we provide our members with a platform to encourage the exchange of experiences and ideas.

It would be great to know that you are interested in our work. If you like to actively support us, we gladly accept your donations and membership fees.

Kind regards, see you soon!
