Leona Goldstein (born in 1976) studied visual communication in Rome, Dortmund and Berlin. In her numerous film and photo documentations, which Goldstein conducted in such countries as Rwanda, Burkina Faso, India, Cuba, Mexico, Vietnam, Cambodia as well as inside Europe, she dealt with the subjects of migration, gender and human rights. Leona Goldsteins work has been awarded many prizes and grants, among them: stipend of the VG Bild-Kunst (2008), stipend of the DAAD-Künstlerförderung (2008), stipend of the EU Commission (2006), XENOS – prize for engagement in the civil society (2005). For the realisation of the project "displaced - Refugees on Europe´s Borders" the photographer has been working around the European outer borders for three years. Alongside many publications in magazines worldwide her book "displaced - Refugees on Europe´s Borders" has been published in 2007 by Editorial Loeper, Karlsruhe, Germany.
