Kabari Mercedes New Delhi, India 2008 After the refuse has been picked up, it is stored for transportation in a modified tricycle. This tricycle, supplied to the Chintan Environmental Research and Action Group by the New Delhi Municipal Council, has been adjusted to the waste pickers’ needs and offers storage room for different kinds of material. This allows starting to segregate already while storing the waste and saves time for the following steps. The waste disposal system is informal and yet highly organised. Its capacity to recycle is efficient beyond the dreams of the most progressive recycling nations in the West.  |
